WCUSD Superintendent’s Update May 2019

WCUSD Superintendent’s Update May 2019

May brought many opportunities for celebration in West Covina Unified, as students, teachers, and staff garnered accolades for their hard work in and out of the classroom, demonstrated their excellence in International Baccalaureate and raised awareness for important causes.

West Covina Unified’s inaugural Mental Wellness Festival highlighted District efforts to support mental health and connected students and families with necessary resources.

Both Edgewood and West Covina High were lauded for their Advanced Placement and IB programs – which promote college and career readiness – by U.S. News and World Report. West Covina High’s student journalists and AFJROTC unit also received national recognition for their excellence.

Monte Vista and Merced elementary students explored the world of business and exercised their invention skills by creating business plans, conducting research and compiling data, and creating products that solve an everyday problem.

These achievements are simply a few examples of what West Covina Unified students, teachers, administrators, staff and families accomplished this year. We are grateful to all who helped make these triumphs possible.

Congratulations to the Class of 2019 on your graduation and to all WCUSD students for yet another excellent year.

Sincerely,

Dr. Charles D. Hinman
Superintendent
